Enjoy a vibrant market full of local makers on December 6 and 7 that benefits WayForward Resources.

Approximately 1,400 people attend the Holiday Art Market at FCI, which helps kick off the holiday season, making this event a must-attend annual outing for many locals. Local artists and makers provide the backdrop for a fun and festive atmosphere.  The popular Gift To-Go Boxes will be back in 2025, along with plentiful Door Prizes and the crowd favorite Plinko game. Each vendor donates at least 20% of their proceeds back to benefit WayForward’s food and housing programs.

Most people in our community know that we’ve got a housing problem. Prices are up, options are limited, and solutions seem hard to come by. But trying to make sense of it all can feel overwhelming. Why has housing gotten so challenging here? How do these challenges play out in the lives of people in our community? And what can we do about it?

Join local leaders and experts as they dive into this complex issue. Learn about the causes of the housing crisis, what the impacts really look like, and how we can come together as a community to address the problem.

About The Panelists

Headshot of Nicole Solheim standing in front of brick wall.Nicole Solheim serves as Senior Vice President of Development for Cinnaire, a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Nicole is passionate about working with communities to realize their vision and has spent her career at the intersection of real estate, community development, and urban planning. Nicole brings over 14 years of experience in the affordable housing industry and has worked on over 40 developments and $450 million in residential and commercial real estate with both Cinnaire and a national development firm. She earned her BBA in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She is dedicated to supporting students and families who are experiencing homelessness, placed in foster care, and/or part of the Safe at Home program. With a compassionate and resource-driven approach, she works hard to connect families with essential services/resources, increase stability and access to education.

Headshot of Taylor Rozman standing outside with trees in background.Taylor Rozman is the Housing Stability Director at WayForward Resources. She and her team provide case management and financial assistance to people experiencing barriers to finding or maintaining stable housing in Middleton, Cross Plains, and parts of west Madison. Taylor studied psychology and Spanish and earned her Master’s in Urban Education. She’s been working in housing and homeless services since 2018, before which she spent time as a middle school teacher. She has been a member of the Dane County Homeless Services Consortium Board of Directors since 2022.

Headshot of Daphne Xu standing on a beach with water in the background.Daphne Xu is the City Planner and Zoning Administrator for the City of Middleton, WI. In over five years with the city, she has helped write the 2021 Comprehensive Plan, develop the University Avenue Corridor Plan, and overhaul the zoning ordinance. She also staffs the city’s Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Transit Committee along with Plan Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Landmarks Commission. In addition, she is interested in affordable housing, geographic information systems (GIS), and sustainability. Daphne received her Masters of Planning from the University of Southern California and her Bachelors in Global Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Join the Middleton Police Department on Sunday, December 17, from 10am to 2pm at Metro Market (formerly Pick ‘n Save) in Middleton to help with donations for WayForward Resources (formerly Middleton Outreach Ministry).

WayForward brings our community together to create food and housing security through action and advocacy, for neighbors in Middleton, West Madison and Cross Plains. Their food security programs are open to all of Dane County. WayForward hosts one of the largest food pantries in Dane County, and 60 percent of the households WayForward serves have children.

Enjoy a free outdoor concert and help kids go back to school

Bands will play throughout the afternoon on the patio of Capital Brewery for this family-friendly event open to the public. Thanks to Bob Hoot, owner of Hoot Communications, for organizing the event benefiting WayForward Resources. Performers include Tent Show Trio and Bing Bong, whose 2021 single, Faces, was named the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) overall Song of the Year. We will collect school supplies and monetary donations for WayForward to use to fill backpacks for kids in our community. The Sabor Regio food truck will also be onsite during the event.

Golf on the shore of Lake Mendota at Bishops Bay Country Club

Help make sure everyone in our community has access to nutritious food and stable housing by golfing in Chip in to End Hunger, an annual event for foursomes at picturesque Bishops Bay Country Club. The event begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun scramble start, with golfers moving quickly through the course, several hole contests and a putting green contest.

The event is capped at 140 participants to ensure quick play and culminates with the after-event awards and cookout, where golfers can stay briefly or linger on the club’s outdoor patio on the shore of Lake Mendota.

Sponsorship levels available from $600 to $7,000. All sponsors at $2,000 and above include complimentary golf and cart for a foursome, offering you the chance to treat employees or key clients to a round of golf at an iconic private course.
