With your help, more families can access our pantry for groceries and we can provide rent assistance and advocacy to prevent evictions. Working together, we can continue to build a community where everyone has the stability to thrive. Please consider giving today!

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer a matching gift program to encourage charitable giving among their employees, including spouses and retirees. Contact your HR department to see if your company has a matching program that can increase the impact of your donation.

Tribute and Legacy Gifts

You have the option to make your gift in honor or memory of someone special in your life.

You can support WayForward’s work long-term by designating your gift to the WayForward Resources Endowment Fund. The endowment will provide an ongoing stream of income to support our general operations and programs into the future.

A bequest or gift in your will or through your life insurance policy also ensures that WayForward can continue to be a resource for children, families and individuals in our community for years to come.

Donor-Advised Funds

If you want to retain flexibility in the causes you support, consider establishing a donor-advised fund (DAF). A donor-advised fund is a powerful way to build or continue a tradition of family philanthropy by establishing a charitable investment account, receiving an immediate tax deduction, and retaining the flexibility to distribute gifts to charities later or over multiple years. The investment growth is tax-free.

Please consult your financial advisor to learn more about setting up a DAF to benefit WayForward.

IRAs

Qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from your individual retirement account (IRA) are still tax-free. Anyone age 70 ½ or older may receive QCD treatment for certain transfers of up to $108,000 from their IRA directly to a qualified charity. Transfers qualifying as QCDs are not included in taxable income and reduce the balance of your retirement account (on which you and your heirs will ultimately pay tax). You can direct your QCDs to one or more qualified charitable organizations of your choice.

Note: Be sure to confirm with your advisor that the transfer meets the requirements to be treated as a QCD.

Please consult with your personal financial advisor to learn more about supporting WayForward Resources through your IRA.

Stocks

WayForward Resources accepts donations of shares of stock and mutual funds. Gifts of appreciated securities may provide an increased tax deduction. If you have stocks or other securities that are worth more than you paid for them, and you’ve owned them for at least 12 months, consider giving those to charity. This may avoid capital gains tax and allow a charitable deduction for the securities’ full fair market value. Your deduction for donations of appreciated stock or securities to public charities is limited to 30% of your adjusted gross income each year, but you can carry over any excess deductions for up to five additional years.

Note: Since gifts of appreciated stock can take time to process, please coordinate with your financial advisor as soon as possible to ensure a transfer can be completed by year-end.

New Tax Law and Current Giving (updated 10/1/2025)

  • The current income tax brackets are permanently extended.
  • The standard deduction for 2025 will be $15,750 for single filers and $31,500 for married couples filing jointly. If you don’t itemize, you may still benefit if you give appreciated stock, real estate or, if you are 70 ½ or older, from your IRA.
  • Cash gifts of up to 60% of your AGI can still be deducted. Maximize your tax benefits and impact by combining your cash and non-cash assets (blended giving).
